2021.10.17 08:49 IAmSixSyllables Am I the only one that masks eating as a Heavy?
Simple and quick inquiry. Do other people mask their "om nomms" whenever they use their lunchbox items similarly to ubers? (Masking: Using a voiceline to cover the Ubercharge calls that medic does at 100%.)
It's basically become habit for me to do it whenever I play heavy, it's become natural. I'm not exactly sure whether it's effective since I still obviously get killed behind cover, but someone else MUST be doing this strategy. Well, I guess it makes sense to me at least, it seems logical I guess. Why make the whole sound-bite that lasts about 2 seconds, which is a lot more distinct, than use a "Yes" that lasts half a second to say.
Anybody else try doing this? Who knows, maybe high-level heavies do this, but it's only been my first HL season so far.

2021.10.17 08:49 go_thewrongway Planning to write a book....
I have the beginnings of a fictional story about a music producer. I had plans to make him collaborate with other artists but then realized that using real-life singers and artists might give me a problem. Can I ask if this is legal?

2021.10.17 08:49 TheKingofPluto Will we get any kind of weather?
I noticed that if I stand in an atmospheric world and turn up the volume all the way and if there is no music playing at the moment, then I will hear the wind blowing. It sounds louder on planets with thicker atmospheres. This makes me wonder if we will ever get any kind of weather events like a dust storm, or sand and pebbles blowing in the wind, or even thin wispy clouds to fly through. Mars has an atmosphere much thinner than the ones we can land on and it has very interesting weather systems. I'm not asking for anything too complex yet, just something to make surface exploration more interesting. Do you think the devs will add some kind of weather any time soon?

2021.10.17 08:49 National_Winter_607 Question about cat treatment
My cat of 15 1/2 years passed away due to acute renal failure. I have a lot of guilt over this because he was diagnosed with hyperthroidism a year ago and I never followed up with bloodwork in timely manner like I should have. But I wanted an opinion about this for a vet. Although I know it was my responsibility to get the follow up bloodwork done, there were some reasons why I hadn't done that in a timely manner. One reason was because my cat had a terrible time with the methimazole pills. They would make him lethargic and he wouldn't eat or move for days after the medication was in his system. It took me about 3 1/2 months (maybe longer) of experimenting with the pills and also an oral gel - and adjust the dosage to get to a point where he could take them twice a day without becoming ill. I also had a lot going on over the summer. Transmission went out, was diagnosed with diabetes, underwent major life changes, etc. My mind was a little overwhelmed at times.
Second, I would remain in contact with my vet on a regular basis and asked the vet to make house calls occasionally. This was because my precious cat who I loved, was also a maniac when I tried to take him outside to go to the vet.
During the vet exams I would tell the vet that I was concerned about my cat's weight rapid weight loss and apparent muscle wasting but she would dismiss it as old age and tell me that my cat looked great. She would tell me that he could live into his 20's. So although I was confused, because my cat was losing weight and I could start to feel his bones, I didn't think that things were that bad. She "would say" that she suspected possible kidney disease at times and we should do bloodwork but there was never a sense of "this is critical" or that it should be done ASAP. And 90% of that conversation again, would be that my cat looks great and that he will make it many more years and that the weight and muscle loss was old age, but every once in a while she would make a comment that she thought it could be something else. Well, what the hell am I supposed to think?? I rely on a vet to give me a definitive answer or at the very least give me a definitive direction. When I'm told that my cat looks great and that the weight loss is old age then I interpret that as good. But then she would make comments sometimes that it could be something else or KD. She would also make comments such as don't worry that you forgot about the testing because the KD progresses very slowly, as if it's not urgent. Again, in hindsight, I couldn't disagree more. During the last visit one month before my cat passed, I again mentioned the weight loss because I could now feel his ribs and he looked way to boney and again she blew it off as old age and said he looked great and could go another 4-5 years. A month later he passed away of acute kidney failure.
There is no question that I blame myself for this and and really suffering through the guilt. I felt that I robbed my cat of years of his life. But knowing what I know now...that CKD needs to be detected as soon as possible and is critical to the longevity of cat and that cats shouldn't be on methimazole for long periods of time without follow up testing on the thyroid levels, I felt that it was careless for the vet to mislead me on many fronts; kidney testing not being urgent, the weight loss was just old age, and during the final visit, the one thing that shocked me the most was that after several months of my cat being on the methimazole medication, the vet tells me "sometimes the medication actually doesn't work". Is it wrong of me to be absolutely furious that the vet would wait to say something like that after my cat had been on the medication for several months? She waited that long to make a comment like that?
Am I overreacting with my anger? I don't expect vets to be perfect, but feeling well defined bones in a cat with rapid weight loss getting dismissed as old age makes me angry. In addition to these things, the vet was very aloof in her practice. Constantly forgetting to follow up, forgetting to refill his meds, forgetting about our scheduled phone calls. I mean, the vet just seemed poor all around in my opinion.
